Let's go! We set off for the highest mountain in the Bregenzerwald region - the Braunarlspitze. Our challenging and lengthy mountain tour starts in Schröcken-Heimboden. Initially, we follow the service road to the right of the Hotel Mohnenfluh towards the Fellealpe, which is a managed alpine pasture. From there, we continue along the narrowing footpath. Crossing some narrow mountain streams along the way allows us to cool our arms. After about an hour and a half of walking, we turn at a fork in the path and follow the sign towards Fürggele. Before the rock face, we enjoy the view of the Hochberg directly in front of us and reach an altitude of 2,145 meters. Now, we stow our hiking poles in our backpack and need both hands to navigate up the partly secured rock. After negotiating some exposed sections, the final stretch leads us over loose shale. Success! We stand at the summit cross, happily observing the spectacle of clouds in the wind. We then descend on the south side to Butzensee. From afar, we already see the turquoise blue mountain lake with the massive summit of the Mohnenfluh in the background - a sight that remains unforgettable! We return to the starting point via the Jägersteig trail, passing by the Fellealpe.
